No One Understands Me

No one understands me  :-/
Like - literally. I just started my day here at work, and I've already had 2 customers so far, who speak American English, who cannot understand MY American English. I was born and raised in Missouri and Illinois, so it's not like I have a foreign accent. I could understand THEM just fine.

I WOULD say that maybe I'm just tired and my words aren't being pronounced very clearly, but then someone who actually DOES have an accent will call in, and they can seem to understand me just fine, so I don't think I'm not speaking clearly enough. And I'm having to repeat myself so I'm pronouncing every word clearly and precisely, so maybe they're just older customers and I'm talking too fast? I don't know...

This isn't the first time I've had trouble with people not understanding me. When I first moved to this town of Perryville, I had people say to me that they could tell I wasn't from around here because of my 'accent'. I was confused. What accent? I had only just moved one town over. But even on VRchat before, I had someone ask where I was from, and when I said "Missouri", he was like - well THAT explains it. Explains what? Missouri is pretty much the middle of the US. Is it the meeting of the North and South that is throwing people off?

Then I wonder if maybe it has to do with all the different accents I've been around over the past years. I have talked to many people from many different areas of the world, and there is also quite a diversity in my own family. I have friends in the UK that I've been talking to since about 2002. Then there's the time I was obsessed with New Zealand. My first boyfriend was half Mexican. My bosses at work for almost 10 years were from India. In my family, there are a some Filipino people, and at one point in my teenage years, we lived in "the deep" which was the area of town where we said words like "fiddy" instead of "fifty" and "prolly" instead of "probably". Maybe the merging of all these things has influenced me to acquire a unique diction?

Not sure... but regardless, it was something I think about often when people comment on the way I talk, so I wanted to discuss my thoughts about it here.

15 Questions About Me (2019 Update, 16 Years Later)

You can find the original post here, which I had answered these questions before, about 16 years ago:
https://themultimom.blogspot.com/2003/04/15-questions-about-me.html

1) Where are you really from?
Born in Haiti Missouri, currently live in Perryhell Misery. (jk, that's just what others call it. It's Perryville Missouri, and I personally like where I live) I've lived in some other places too, though, but only in Illinois, Missouri, and a short time in Nebraska.

2) What is your mission here on Earth?
I tend to think we're all just one happy accident, and we're just existing. But while I'm here, I might as well spread around some ideas, creativity, and some love, right?

3) If someone told you he was a super hero, and he had no evidence to back up his claim, would you believe him?
Me believing him or not is irrelevant. The question is - now that I know his secret, what do I get out of it? lol

4) Of all the people who have gone down in history for being crazy, who is your favorite?
So apparently I can't pick Harley and Joker since it appears it has to be a REAL person. I still want to say Marilyn Manson, but you know what? Crazy is in the eye of the beholder. He actually seems brilliant and clever to me. Does that mean knowledge makes him crazy? Then Stephen Hawking was a loon, too. Or is it the makeup? In that case, Jeffree Star is a psycho. So it's hard to call someone crazy when people think of crazy in different ways...

5) Who is your favorite monster?
It's always going to be the Phantom of the Opera... But ever since Monster High came out, I've been in love with all those freakishly adoraboo monsters! ♥

6) Which is your favorite fairy tale?
It's hard to pick just one. I found a love for Sleeping Beauty when my baby girl was born because that's what I used to call her. Could Harry Potter be considered a fairy tale? Or I might still have to go with the story of Phantom of the Opera... The idea of the passion and obsession still gets to me.

7) Sour apple or apple cinnamon?
I don't really like apple flavored things, but if I had to choose, I'll go with apple cinnamon.

8) Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate?
Milk chocolate. White chocolate is okay, but I don't really care for dark chocolate any more.

9) Do you like Fanta (you'd better say yes...)
Yes? If I have to buy cheap, I'll go with Orange Fanta... But I much rather prefer Mt. Dew

10) What's your favorite song interjection?
I STILL don't know wtf a song interjection is...

11) If you had your own amusement park, what would it be called and what would it be like?
It would be called Multiverse and it would have all kinds of themes based on seasons and holidays, so like - there would be a ski area with an ice skating rink and stuff for winter, a Christmas town, a water slide park area for the summer, a haunted house, hayride, corn maze, etc for the fall, a field full of all kinds of different flowers and an Easter egg hunting kind of area for spring... and there would also be sections for different cultures and time periods, so here would be like a Hawaiian place, a Hindu place, an old Samurai kind of place, a French/colonial kind of place, a western cowboy place... There would be fireworks every night, parades on the weekends, rides, educational areas to learn about the different places and cultures, even a future place to learn about the stars, space, and beyond. It would be like Disneyworld, only NOT run by the illuminati  lol (that's a joke by the way, I don't know if they really are or not :-p haha)

12) Make up a word right now and define it.
Rabbitholeiosis - When you end up on the weird side of YouTube, or the internet. For example: You start of by looking for cute cat videos, and the next thing you know, you're watching videos of people made out of ice cream eating themselves by the spoonful. Or you go to look up information on the Revolutionary War and end up reading about the mating rituals of the Hamar tribe in Ethiopia...

13) What was the best era for sci-fi?
I still like the Sci-Fi of the early 90's when all the computer special effects were just starting to become new to everyone, but I like how pretty much ANYTHING is possible now. I remember when I was about 10 years old, dreaming of the day when they would make X-Men movies, and now there has been so many!

14) Who writes the best parodies (song or otherwise)?
I used to love Flight of the Conchords because of their 'Frodo Don't Wear the Ring' song, but I guess now days, I'm really into JT Machinima (aka JT Music), who does a lot of gaming parodies. I especially like his Five Nights at Freddy's songs!
https://www.youtube.com/user/skullkruncher13

15) If you were to be reincarnated as anything, animate, inanimate, existent or non-existent, what would it be?
I have so many choices, but I pretty much have to agree with what I said before. I just want to live forever and never die. Be young and beautiful forever... but if I HAD to choose... An Elf from Lord of the Rings, or a goddess, or a vampire, or someone with a long life and beauty. Lots of adventure and uncanny abilities. I love things that are everything I'm not. Sometimes I thought it would be cool to be my alter ego, the X-Men character I made called Tricity (named my daughter after her) but with the way I write for her, I'd never want to go through the things I have put her through! lol

My Thoughts on the Long Island Medium

First off, I will say that I am no skeptic when it comes to Theresa Caputo. I believe what she does is genuine and real, and I admire that she is so in tune with her empathy that she can do what she does. But I do have some questions and thoughts on it. I know these will probably never get answered, but I thought I'd put them out there any way, in case anyone ever wants to add to it, or discuss what they think might be the answers.

First of all, when I as little, I used to think there were no spirits around me because I hadn't had anyone die in my life that I was close to. Of course now that I'm older, that has changed. I've had close family, in-laws, and friends whom have passed, so I'm sure there's at least one of them hanging around. But these aren't just people that I was close to. They were close to others in the family as well, which brings up some questions.

Take my Grandma, for example. I think of her often, and Theresa says when we think of our loved ones, that is usually a way of knowing that they were still with us. But as often as I think of my Grandma, I know my Mom thinks of her more than that. And I'm sure there's others in the family who think of her pretty often as well, such as her other sons, and her other grandchildren, and my Grandpa. So my question is -  if we're all thinking about her, can she be with more than one person at once? And how? Can she just snap between people in an instant, or do spirits tend to get attached to certain people?

Or what about with my friend Kelly? He passed away when we were in our early 20's. He had a girlfriend and a baby boy, so I wonder why I often think about him. Does that mean his spirit is with me? Shouldn't he be with his son? Or his sister or mother? Someone who was closer to him? I barely knew him. I went to High School with him, and we only started keeping in touch through social media after school ended, but we were becoming good friends towards the end of his illness, and his death had a pretty big impact on me. But I feel like - what right do I have for him to hang around me when there are much more important people for him to be with?

And another thing I think about is - what if we had a parent pass away that we actually don't want around us? Do they hang around anyway, or do they respect our wishes and stay away? My "father" passed away in November, but was never close to me. My parents were divorced before I was a year old, and he decided to all someone else his baby girl, so I decided early on that I didn't want him to be a part of my life. And now that he's passed, I'd hope he would respect those wishes and stay away. If anything, I'd hope he feels the resentment, the hurt, the anger and bitterness that have become a part of me because of his choices. But other than that, I don't want him to be in my life, or my daughter's. He doesn't deserve that privilege, even in death.

To wrap up this discussion, I think it's amazing that spirits can have a consciousness without a brain to do the thinking. They can remember who they were, the people in their lives, and they have personalities and can feel things. But it makes me wonder why people who get amnesia or alzheimers become forgetful of who they are. If it's not a physical connection to the brain that makes us who we are, and indeed a spiritual one, then why do they forget? Is it because of a temporary block in their mind that will go away after they pass on? Or does this mean they are losing a part of their spirit? Just deep thoughts that go through my head when I watch her do what she does.

I also kind of wonder if someone can be trying so hard to get through to the other side that Theresa can feel it from so far away? Like - do any spirits ever actively seek her out to try and get a message across to their loved ones even though they aren't anywhere near her? Do they ever try to guide her to find them and get a hold of them? Or is it more like a proximity thing, where they have to be close for her to get a reading? I guess sometimes I just so desperately want to get a message from the other side that I wonder if any of my loved ones are trying just as hard to get one through to me.

Rumors (From the Future [Supposedly {Probably Not}])

So... I wouldn't say I'm a conspiracy theorist, because I'm really not. I don't believe a lot of the stuff I've learned, even if some of it I wish were true. However, I DO like to learn about people's ideas and what they think is really going on, or how they believe 'we are all being fooled'. And sometimes, as all people do, I just end up on the weird side of YouTube.

Recently, I've gotten into watching these videos about supposed time travelers from the very near future (from at LEAST the year 2030), and what they're saying is supposed to happen, as early as this year. I'm not going to name their names simply because that's what they want, is to be internet famous, but instead I'll talk about the ideas.

First of all, during this very month of January 2019, they claim that there will be a spike of UFO sightings. Well it's already the middle of the month, and I've yet to hear or see anything about this. Have you? But don't worry. If you see a UFO, these are supposedly supposed to be the same friendly aliens that are going to crash here in the year 2028 and unite us as a human race as we learn to live in peace with these otherworldly beings. If you're wondering what they'll look like, I'm pretty sure they kept saying the words "bold skin", with scales, looking somewhat like a humanoid seahorse. Furries everywhere will rejoice.

Then next month in February, they claim that the Midwest is going to get wiped out due to massive snow storms. *intently stares* Bitch please... I'm in the heartland of the Midwest. We've survived ICE storms on more than one occasion. You know what I'mma do if there EVER gets to be a storm that serious? I'm gonna pile up all the blankets like a nest, like mice do, grab my month's supply of canned goods, and I'm gonna stay burrowed until the next day, because that's how fast the weather changes up here in this bitch we call Missouri.

They also said in April of 2019, there's going to be made a "functioning robotic eye" that is going to allow blind people to see again, and then in June, a chip will be made that will allow paralyzed people to walk again. These things actually sound pretty amazing, and it's things like this that make me wish it were true.

Then apparently in November of 2020, Trump will be reelected as president. First of all, I'd have liked to have known WHY. Even people who voted for Trump the first time are regretting their decision LOL Gotta say I'd be pretty excited to have Martin Luther King’s granddaughter as president though, in 2028. Yolanda is just a child right now. That would only make her 20 years old, and the American Constitution states the country’s president must be at least 35 before moving into the oval office. However, the time travelers claim that the age of presidency will be lowered in the future, as well as the legal age to vote in order to give younger people more rights. Yolanda will apparently become the youngest person to become leader of the country – bettering Theodore Roosevelt by a massive 22-year age gap.

Also in 2028, time travel is expected to be announced to the public (and don't forget about those aliens! lol) They said it will be pretty expensive at first, but will eventually become affordable in the following years. Maybe we can finally save up to take a time travel vacation since apparently food will be free in the future as well. Either that, or maybe we'll save up for a trip to the dinosaur zoo, which is apparently also going to be a real thing. They said there is a time agency that keeps strict control over the whole time travel thing, but what I wonder is - if that were the case, how were they allowed to get sent back here and leak all of this information? No so strict after all, it seems.

Anyway, there were some more ideas they tossed around, but these are the main consistent ones they keep talking about. It would be pretty neat to have these things happen! They made the future sound pretty optimistic... until they started talking about the far future, in which robots start learning how to think for themselves and try to wipe out the human race. I'll admit, that part is pretty scary! LOL Will these things actually happen? Who knows... We'll see... but it's something to keep in mind. And partly why I wrote this blog entry, so I can look back in 10 years (if I'm still alive by then) and see if this stuff was all just conspiracy, or if it was actually real.

Anyway, what are your ideas on it all? Have you seen these interviews or heard about these rumors? I'm always open for discussion. Until then...

Only you can choose what you want to believe or not to believe.

Happy 2019!

Happy New Year! My, my how fast this year has flown by... Other years seemed to have gone by pretty fast, but this one I think has felt like the fastest. Does that mean I had a lot of fun this year? Since time seems to go by faster when you're having fun, and takes forever when you're bored?

Reflecting back on this year: I feel like I didn't do enough. Most of my time was spent working. I worked a full time job with mandatory overtime hours most of the year, so my free time was limited. At the start of the year, it wasn't so bad because I had voluntary time off that I could sign up for, but the downside to that was not getting paid, so that didn't happen as often as I would have liked lol To be honest, I'm getting sick of this job and might try to see if I can look for something different for 2019. I miss only working the weekends and being off the rest of the week!

There were some high points though. The new hotel opened up in town, and we stayed at it. We hadn't stayed in a hotel since 2008, I think? So that was nice. We plan on staying again some time this year. Maybe not the same hotel, but we still want to spend the weekend somewhere like that. This year, I also finally bought a flute! I haven't got to play a flute since I was in 5th grade, so the nostalgia was real heavy. I also did some makeup looks this year. I hadn't really done any of that kind of stuff since I was in my early 20's or just for Halloween, so it was fun to get back into it. And Tricity learned how to cook a few things! She made her own cookies from scratch for a school project. I was so proud of her! And she had us taste them. She did such a great job! We also got our pupper Castiel. He's such a cute little shit! LOL (he's adorable, but he still bites and his claws rip me up, but I love him) I also put a bunch of music covers on YouTube this year. Singing was a huge thing for me this year. Later on in the year, I also had my "father" die. I put it in quotation marks because he was never much of a father to me, but he passed away on his birthday due to a heart attack. Sadly, Adam's Uncle Larry also passed away in 2018.

One of the biggest changes to happen in 2018 was that I branched out into other games. Some big games for me this year were Human Fall Flat, Space Engineers, Fallout 76, Red Dead Redemption 2 Online, and recently State of Decay 2. The BIGGEST game I got into though was VRchat. I started off on the regular game, but eventually got a VR headset and a new laptop to support it. Playing in VR is AMAZING! Not just in VRchat, but other games as well, like Minecraft VR, Beat Saber, and Subnautica! And I met so many friends though VRchat. I have some new best friends I've made this year thanks to VRchat, and some amazing memories were made. And if any of them are reading this, thank you for giving me a great year, and I love you guys ♥

I hope 2019 brings on a lot of good things. With income tax this year, we don't have to get a new car or new computers, so I plan on having us all go to the eye doctor, dentist, and get a tune up for the car. Then after that, I hope we can do the hotel thing and enjoy the weekend going out to eat, going to the movies, and splurging at the mall. Sounds like a good mini vacation. I'm also really looking forward to the eclipse this year. I've only experienced one where I got to see what the sun and moon looked like together (in 2017) so I'm really excited to experience that again! Another goal I'm making this year (as with every year before that) is to try and get my license LOL I STILL can't drive, but maybe I can finally do it this year? I guess we'll just have to see... And of course there's always the goal to try and win the lottery jackpot :-p lol I would also like to get some ancestry DNA tests done this year, get a king sized bed for my little living area here upstairs, get some freaky looking contacts, and get some more music instruments. Tricity already has a ukulele coming in the mail, but I want some bagpipes and a violin, and she wants an accordion. Another thing I definitely want to do is have us take a night every month or so and go bowling, and I want to go fishing, and possibly even camping again this year, or take SOME kind of trip somewhere.

Anyway, I wish you all a very good 2019! I hope you have a wonderful year, better than the last. And if 2018 wasn't good enough for you, make this new year count! Remember - if you're feeling down, only you can make yourself feel better. You put yourself into that bad mood, and you can get yourself out of it. But you've got to change your mindset. Make some goals, keep yourself busy, and L.I.V.E. L.I.F.E.! Free yourself ♥
