Girl Scouts Daisy

Tricity recently joined Girl Scouts, and since she's in 1st Grade, she'll be a Daisy. Don't know the difference between Daisy, Brownie, so on, and so forth? Just click the links  ;-) It's okay. I didn't know the difference either, until we signed her up. I was never in it, so I had no clue what to expect. Basically, it all goes by grade level.

Usually, the Daisy uniform looks something like this picture. You can get the vest, or the tunic:

All we'll have so far is just the vest, but I've just recently ordered a pair of Girl Scouts Daisy pants off of Ebay for $12 total. I figured I better go ahead and get pants, instead of the shorts shown above, because of the cooler weather rolling in. They'll look like this:

We're hoping that soon, with the temperatures getting colder, we'll also be able to get her the Daisy hoodie, which looks like this:

Then, if we have money to spare, we'd also like to get her the shorts for when the weather starts getting warmer, the cute little beanie hat, and the socks to show off beneath the shorts, which all look like these:

THEN... Next year, when she starts Brownies, we want to get this ensemble... the one with the blue shirt and knee-hi socks  :-D  But that's not for about another year:

Anyway, expect to see more posts, pictures, or even videos about it soon. She'll have her first campout coming up, and we're so excited to go! (Yes, me too  lol) Hopefully I'll be able to get some pictures and video during all the fun we'll be having.

10 Cool Things #2 - Grandparent's Day Edition

(a day late! lol)

10 Cool Things - The Grandparent's Day Edition, with 10 cool things you can make for Grandparent's Day! Check these out!

This idea uses painted popsicle sticks, photos of your youngsters, and buttons, which all together create cute little flowers to brighten up the day for anyone's favorite Nana or Papa!

Trace and cut out the shapes of your child's hands and their grandparents. Then overlay them like this to make a nice wall hanging for Grandparent's Day.

Get handprints of all the grandkids, and add this little poem that will be sure to touch the hearts of their grandparents.

Have your kids create these HUGE award ribbons for their most favorite grandparents!

Have your child make a family tree using drawings instead of just names of themselves, you, and their grandparents. They'll be sure to love it!

For this idea, I'd use either construction paper, or even better - crafting foam. Draw out the shapes and cut them out (or have your kids do it), and add their photos. The more grandkids there are, the more rainbow of colors you can add!

Make a cute little album of mini pictures like this, that'll fit perfectly in the pocket of grandma or grandpa.

Take a photo of your kids and their grandparent (or just your kids?) and glue it to some popsicle sticks. After it dries, cut between the sticks to make this neat puzzle that they will be sure to enjoy!

Got an old pocket watch laying around? If it doesn't work, you can always remove the clock and replace it with connected photos like these that any grandparent would be proud to show off.

Instead of giving photos for Grandparent's Day, how about framing silhouettes of your children as a gift?

10 Cool Things #1

This is the first time that I'll be listing the top "10 Cool Things" that I had added to my Facebook and Pinterest pages within the last week. However, because this is the first time I'm doing this, I'll be listing more than just 10, obviously, since I've been adding pictures for a while, now. Why did I decide to call it that? Because I hope to AT LEAST put up 10 cool things a week that I've found around the internet. I figured that 10 isn't asking a lot of my time, and gives you a nice variety in the process  ;-)

And of course, if you want to get these up-to-date, instead of waiting until the end of the week, you can always follow me here:

Take different kinds of picture frames, add a fancy background, and then glue on painted letters of your family name. I definitely plan to do this one over our shoe rack!

Put rubber bands over your vases and spray the outside of them with some frosty glass spray paint. VERY classy!

Use teabags and other natural materials for fabric dyes.

Put glass marbles into the holes of a fence. Dazzling!

Super cute idea :-D Especially as a momento for vacations involving nature, just jut because! Take some stones of various sizes and make little feet with them.

I've got to try making this some time. What a way to upcycle a bottle into a nightlight, and it's super easy to make, too! Just take a clear bottle, glue glass gems to it, and add lights inside.

A great way to make custom candles! Draw a design onto tissue paper, cut out the design, place it onto a candle, cover with wax paper, and heat up with a blowdryer. Peel the wax paper off. If the design doesn't stick, recover it and heat it again. When you are done, you'll have these charming custom-made candles!

Paper Bead jewelry - how to do different bead designs

Put "peel and stick" tiles under your sink cabinets to help prevent leak damage. It's also much easier to clean up spilled household chemicals this way, rather than having them soak into the wood.

Turn an unused closet space into a reading nook! Add bedding and pillows for comfort, crown molding for decoration, and you can create this lovely setting, made perfect for relaxation and escaping to worlds unknown!

I absolutely LOVE this "family tree" idea to display your family photos! I definitely want to try it out in my home some time.

Using rain gutters, you can create shelves that are perfect for holding books. Add a little bean bag or small chair, and you have an instant reading corner!

Need an easy way to organize your markers? Pens? Pencils? Maybe even crayons? Use an idea like this, that has glasses on a wine rack. Afraid your child might get hold of the glasses and break them? Some stores sell plastic cups that look like these, as well.

Store sheet sets in their pillow cases. That way, everything is in one place, and you don't have to hunt down all the pieces of the set!

Start the year with an empty jar and fill it with notes about good things that happen. on New Years Eve, empty it and see what awesome stuff happened that year!

Tasty cupcakes! Add white frosting to your cupcakes, and make curves like the stitching on baseballs, using the same colored M&Ms. Yum!

Using tuna cans is a great way to make a stylish pin cushion!

New "Thang" I'm Going to Try...

I'm going to try something new, to help me stay focused on updated this, as well as my Facebook page, and so on and so forth. I think every weekend, once the week is finally over, I shall post my "top 10" or "top 20" (or however many) pictures that I have uploaded about craft ideas, sayings and quotes, ideas for the home, etc. that I find around the web, so that I'm still actively updating my blog all the time, but not posting a hundred times, EVERY day, and then if anyone wanted to see the things I post as soon as I posted them, they could join my Facebook group, or otherwise wait until my weekly update on here to get ideas and what-not. Sound good? I hope so. I promise it won't be as confusing as I worded it! lol   It's just that I'm getting SO MANY ideas from Pinterest and other blogs that I follow ALL THE TIME, and I want to share them, but I don't want to take up too much space doing it, do you understand what I mean?
