New Year's Eve

Happy New Year's Eve, everybody! I'll be celebrating tonight with my baby girl. We're going to stay up to watch the ball drop, have salmon and sparkling grape juice, and give each other a big ole' smooch when the clock strikes twelve. Have fun, ya'll, and most importantly? BE SAFE!  xoxox

And for my Scottish friends (not that I'm lucky enough to have any in person yet):

Chocolates, Nuts, and Magazines

It's the fall season, and the Girl Scouts troop is selling chocolates, nuts, and magazines! Tricity has been lucky to sell some chocolates and nuts, but unfortunately, she's not doing so well in magazine sales... No one has bought any from her online page! I've been trying to keep her spirits high, though, and have been passing around the link through my Facebook group, my personal Facebook page, my Twitter, and now, even on here. All we need is for 3 people to buy a magazine, and she can get a prize.

The best deals to find are on the "View All Categories" page, and from there, you click on "Combos". They have a year each of Better Homes & Gardens, and Ladies' Home Journal, all for just $16! Or they have a year each of Teen Vogue and Seventeen, all for just $18! Excellent deals, right?  :-)

Anyway, here's what her seller's page says:

Hello, my name is Tricity Craft and I'm selling items for Girl Scouts, and
 need your help!
You can be the one to do that by making a purchase from
me.

Looking for a gift for the holidays? Stuck on what to give to someone you care about? I'm selling chocolates and nuts! Milk chocolate peanut butter bears, chocolate covered pretzels, whole cashews, dulce de leche, deluxe pecan clusters, mint treasures and so much more! Help yourself these holidays by helping me.

Looking for some fresh reading material? I'm also selling magazines! There are many types to choose from, whether you are looking for health and fitness magazines, beauty magazines, kids magazines, men's magazines, hunting and fishing or sports magazines, house and home, teen, science - you name it, I'm selling it!

When you make a purchase from me, you'll be benefiting my Girl Scout troop- troop 70057 of Perryville Missouri- helping to provide us with the means to experience events that are both fun and rewarding. We can learn to be strong leaders in our community, while learning self-esteem, financial literacy, and good citizenship. So be a good role model and help me out, so that I may learn how to help others.

So please, PLEASE make a purchase BEFORE Thursday November 12th of 2012! I know it's only 3 days away, but we would super duper appreciate it! Just 3 magazine orders is all we need for her to get a prize. This is her first time selling, please don't let her down!

Long Time, No Post

My poor neglected blog... *pet-pets*

While my Facebook group has been thriving, my blog has suffered... I see the whole "10 cool things" idea went right out the window. Maybe I can reboot that and try again?  :-D

Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know that I've been TRYING and TRYING to get videos made! My laptop has been giving me such fits, and my husband's computer doesn't have what I need to get them done. My laptop will only stay connected to the internet for about a minute, and then it's like it gets congested and won't go anywhere else, so I have to shut down my browser, restart it, and use the internet for about another minute. It gets so frustrating! And now, it keeps telling me that my memory is low, and shuts my programs down on me, so if I don't save my progress in time, I lose my work...

Other than that, I just wanted to update the blog. It's been lonely, I'm sure... My daughter has strep throat right now, and she was supposed to go to the dentist today and get 2 more teeth pulled. (I know, I know... you haven't even seen the first two teeth gone yet, have you?) She missed the Veteran's Day parade with her Girl Scout troop yesterday, so that means no badge :-(  but her health is more important. She's at school today, but that's because she's no longer contagious, and she acts like she's fine.

There's a couple of other things to mention, but I'll put them in separate blog entries, like her selling items, and my calendar. Let's see... what else happened lately? We went to the fire station's open house, there was the pumpkin patch thing, and Thursday will be the campfire thing... There was also a lot of Girl Scouts events that went on, but I'm not allowed to share those videos publicly, as per the troop leaders... I'm doing my best to fix everything up, so please bear with me.

The Influenster Relaunch!

For any of you who have been following my blog, Pinterest, or Facebook page, you all know that I've been into Influenster for a while now. What is InfluensterInfluenster is a website that offers you free samples to test and try out, and then you share your reviews and opinions with others! It's the best way to give and get opinions about products out there.

So far, I've gotten the Mom box and the Naturals box. I've sampled Stash Tea, Ivory Soap (which I am totally in love with now!), LypSyl Lip Balm, GeoDeo deodorant (which I am also in love with!), Nectar Honey Crystals, The Original Dish Drying Mat, Broadway imPRESS nails, and so much more!!!

The most awesome part about this? You don't have to pay a thing! And even better? If you win badges for completing tasks (such as "like"ing the companies on Facebook, Twitter, writing blog reviews or making video reviews, stuff like that), you may get to be one of the people selected to win BONUS items from the companies! With my Mom box, I won 10 bars of Ivory soap and a bottle of liquid Ivory body soap, and I've gotten an extra free box of imPRESS nails, as well as one of their nail dress designs.

All in all, I totally think Influenster is superb, and I'd love to recommend them to ANYONE who comes across my pages. You can either take my word for it, or go vist them and see for yourself! Check them out here:

LypSyl Intense Protection LypMoisturizer™ Review

I haven't gotten up my video yet on this one either, but I needed to make a blog post about this product, because I'm in love with this new product I got to try. I got it as a complimentary sample to try, through Influenster from their Naturals VoxBox 2012.

Of course, because it's natural, it's made with some of the best ingredients! (Check my pictures down below to see.) When first applying, it gives your lips a fresh, minty tingle. (If you don't like the tingle, fear not- it doesn't last long, but my daughter and I really love the tingle!) It made our lips feel so soft and moisturized, without leaving that sticky feeling that you get from other lip balms. It also didn't leave them feeling oily like others do, too. It was so great! I know it lasted at least 6 hours before I had to take a shower and reapply, so it lasts quite a while. My daughter liked this product so much that she tried to take mine! lol  I'm so thankful to have gotten this right as the weather is getting cold, and they even make a cold sore treatment that would be helpful to my husband  ;-)

The information for this product states:
Organic Shea Butter Pure Vitamins A&E Coconut Oil Minty Flavor: Refreshes Coconut Oil: Moisturizes Organic Shea Butter: Heals & Protects Vitamins A&E: Softens & Heals
With pure Swedish beeswax, organic shea butter and vitamins, LypSyl Intense Protection LypMoisturizer is seriously long-lasting! Tell us how much longer your LypSyl lipbalm lasted than your old brand.

If you would like to know more, go check it out at their website, here:

My Thoughts on This Product (2 Years Later):
This is STILL my favorite lip balm! I love the natural ingredients, and the minty cool feel on my lips. Even my daughter loves this one the most.

Influenster: The Original™ Dish Drying Mat Review

I haven't gotten up my video yet, but I needed to make a blog post about this product, because I LOVE this idea! I got "The Original™ Dish Drying Mat" as a complimentary sample to try, through Influenster from their Naturals VoxBox 2012.

Why did I love this product so much? First of all - because I don't use a dishwasher anyway. It's a waste of water, electric, and I hate having to pre-wash my dishes, hoping the dishwasher will get them clean, and it doesn't even do a good enough job anyway. So? I handwash, and usually let them air dry in a dish rack. The bad side to that? Germs and bacteria build up. That's why I secondly love this product! You can wash it when you're done using it, so it doesn't build up germs and bacteria from sitting around! It's washable. Thirdly, I love this product because it has a nice design on the cloth, looks classy, has a satin trim, and it even has a little hook attached to hang it up if you want to. It also comes in different colors. It's perfect for my kitchen!

The information for this product states:
The Original™ Dish Drying Mat is the new solution to the age old tradition of placing dish towels on the counter when hand washing pots, pans, dishes, and glassware. But more than Dish Mats, The Original™ features a line of cleaning, home and pet products!

If you would like to know more, go check it out at their website, here:

Here is the front of the product I received, the back, the drying mat fully extended, and then the information paper I got with it, front and back.

My Opinion on This Product (2 Years Later)
I liked this product really well, but the beige color stained really bad for some reason. I didn't spill anything on it, but once I washed it, it got all splotchy and looked pretty bad. It still serves it's purpose, though, as unattractive as it may be.

Girl Scouts Daisy

Tricity recently joined Girl Scouts, and since she's in 1st Grade, she'll be a Daisy. Don't know the difference between Daisy, Brownie, so on, and so forth? Just click the links  ;-) It's okay. I didn't know the difference either, until we signed her up. I was never in it, so I had no clue what to expect. Basically, it all goes by grade level.

Usually, the Daisy uniform looks something like this picture. You can get the vest, or the tunic:

All we'll have so far is just the vest, but I've just recently ordered a pair of Girl Scouts Daisy pants off of Ebay for $12 total. I figured I better go ahead and get pants, instead of the shorts shown above, because of the cooler weather rolling in. They'll look like this:

We're hoping that soon, with the temperatures getting colder, we'll also be able to get her the Daisy hoodie, which looks like this:

Then, if we have money to spare, we'd also like to get her the shorts for when the weather starts getting warmer, the cute little beanie hat, and the socks to show off beneath the shorts, which all look like these:

THEN... Next year, when she starts Brownies, we want to get this ensemble... the one with the blue shirt and knee-hi socks  :-D  But that's not for about another year:

Anyway, expect to see more posts, pictures, or even videos about it soon. She'll have her first campout coming up, and we're so excited to go! (Yes, me too  lol) Hopefully I'll be able to get some pictures and video during all the fun we'll be having.

10 Cool Things #2 - Grandparent's Day Edition

(a day late! lol)

10 Cool Things - The Grandparent's Day Edition, with 10 cool things you can make for Grandparent's Day! Check these out!

This idea uses painted popsicle sticks, photos of your youngsters, and buttons, which all together create cute little flowers to brighten up the day for anyone's favorite Nana or Papa!

Trace and cut out the shapes of your child's hands and their grandparents. Then overlay them like this to make a nice wall hanging for Grandparent's Day.

Get handprints of all the grandkids, and add this little poem that will be sure to touch the hearts of their grandparents.

Have your kids create these HUGE award ribbons for their most favorite grandparents!

Have your child make a family tree using drawings instead of just names of themselves, you, and their grandparents. They'll be sure to love it!

For this idea, I'd use either construction paper, or even better - crafting foam. Draw out the shapes and cut them out (or have your kids do it), and add their photos. The more grandkids there are, the more rainbow of colors you can add!

Make a cute little album of mini pictures like this, that'll fit perfectly in the pocket of grandma or grandpa.

Take a photo of your kids and their grandparent (or just your kids?) and glue it to some popsicle sticks. After it dries, cut between the sticks to make this neat puzzle that they will be sure to enjoy!

Got an old pocket watch laying around? If it doesn't work, you can always remove the clock and replace it with connected photos like these that any grandparent would be proud to show off.

Instead of giving photos for Grandparent's Day, how about framing silhouettes of your children as a gift?

10 Cool Things #1

This is the first time that I'll be listing the top "10 Cool Things" that I had added to my Facebook and Pinterest pages within the last week. However, because this is the first time I'm doing this, I'll be listing more than just 10, obviously, since I've been adding pictures for a while, now. Why did I decide to call it that? Because I hope to AT LEAST put up 10 cool things a week that I've found around the internet. I figured that 10 isn't asking a lot of my time, and gives you a nice variety in the process  ;-)

And of course, if you want to get these up-to-date, instead of waiting until the end of the week, you can always follow me here:

Take different kinds of picture frames, add a fancy background, and then glue on painted letters of your family name. I definitely plan to do this one over our shoe rack!

Put rubber bands over your vases and spray the outside of them with some frosty glass spray paint. VERY classy!

Use teabags and other natural materials for fabric dyes.

Put glass marbles into the holes of a fence. Dazzling!

Super cute idea :-D Especially as a momento for vacations involving nature, just jut because! Take some stones of various sizes and make little feet with them.

I've got to try making this some time. What a way to upcycle a bottle into a nightlight, and it's super easy to make, too! Just take a clear bottle, glue glass gems to it, and add lights inside.

A great way to make custom candles! Draw a design onto tissue paper, cut out the design, place it onto a candle, cover with wax paper, and heat up with a blowdryer. Peel the wax paper off. If the design doesn't stick, recover it and heat it again. When you are done, you'll have these charming custom-made candles!

Paper Bead jewelry - how to do different bead designs

Put "peel and stick" tiles under your sink cabinets to help prevent leak damage. It's also much easier to clean up spilled household chemicals this way, rather than having them soak into the wood.

Turn an unused closet space into a reading nook! Add bedding and pillows for comfort, crown molding for decoration, and you can create this lovely setting, made perfect for relaxation and escaping to worlds unknown!

I absolutely LOVE this "family tree" idea to display your family photos! I definitely want to try it out in my home some time.

Using rain gutters, you can create shelves that are perfect for holding books. Add a little bean bag or small chair, and you have an instant reading corner!

Need an easy way to organize your markers? Pens? Pencils? Maybe even crayons? Use an idea like this, that has glasses on a wine rack. Afraid your child might get hold of the glasses and break them? Some stores sell plastic cups that look like these, as well.

Store sheet sets in their pillow cases. That way, everything is in one place, and you don't have to hunt down all the pieces of the set!

Start the year with an empty jar and fill it with notes about good things that happen. on New Years Eve, empty it and see what awesome stuff happened that year!

Tasty cupcakes! Add white frosting to your cupcakes, and make curves like the stitching on baseballs, using the same colored M&Ms. Yum!

Using tuna cans is a great way to make a stylish pin cushion!
