It Could Be Worse... Be Glad It Isn't.

Never take a good day for granted... And when you think things are going bad? Remember, it could always be worse. Always...

I had to go to the hospital tonight. I had strep throat again, and of course the long wait at the hospital and verified case of strep meant that I had to miss work. It took them 5 hours, but with all that went on tonight, I didn't mind the wait. It was a rough night at the hospital.

While I was there with Adam, we saw an ambulance pull up to the ER and the EMTs held a baby in their arms, it's arms limp. A little girl... I don't know what happened, but needless to say, she didn't make it. Someone lost their baby tonight and I just wanted to cry. I couldn't even imagine... but my heart ached for the poor angel.

Later on in the night, people were brought in from a 3-person car crash. Mostly teenagers. I don't know how bad the injuries were or if anyone died, but they had to lock down the hospital while the emergency helicopter came and went, taking off someone to St. Louis for serious injuries.

Like I said, it was a hard night... So when you're sick and feeling like death? Be glad it isn't worse. You may not feel very well, but it could always be so much worse...

Does Honor Roll Mean Much When You're Little?

I went with Tricity to school today. Today was movie day for the honor roll students! When you're in 1st Grade, does honor roll even mean much? When I was little, I don't even remember there being an honor roll. However, when I was in high school, I remember how hard it was to try and make it. It meant so much more, but when you're little, it's so easy. I certainly am proud of her, though! Today was also the Girl Scout meeting. Cookie orders were due. Tricity sold a total of 60 boxes!

Goodbye, Christmas

I finally took down the faux fireplace that I had painted for Christmas. I guess that means Christmas is officially over. It looked pretty neat though! I still haven't gotten any of the free Ghirardelli chocolate that I had won a year's supply of. I wonder how long that'll take to come in? Today, I also took a mini-nap and worked on some more of the music playlist for Tricity's 3DS.

I Received Free Bakeware!

Today I worked more in the hallway again, getting boxes sorted and packed to move. I had Adam take off 7 boxes to storage. I'll be glad when we finally get a place and can quit having to pay the storage fees!

I also got some free Pyrex baking dishes in the mail today! Mom and I have been entering lottery ticket codes to earn points for free stuff, so I finally had enough to get a set. I LOVE Pyrex!

I can't wait to move and use them, and the new green skillet that I got for Christmas.
I also want to get some aluminum cups for the new place, too, like we used to use when I was a kid.

The Monday Blahs

Today was spent like any other typical Monday - catching up on sleep that I missed out on over the weekend from work, and not really doing much of anything else.

I did, however, work on downloading and converting videos into MP3 files for the 3DS, so that Tricity can have some music to listen to.

Scottish Dragon Stuff!

Today, we went to a birthday party for one of Tricity's best friends, Erin. It was at the pool :-) I believe we were the only ones that showed up? But I got to spend time talking to her Mom, and she was pretty cool! Their family is into Scottish and dragon stuff! She showed me some pictures of some things she has made, and some of the stuff they have.

They go to Renaissance Faires, and they collect weapons and stuff. I can't remember if she said they sell some as well? We have a few swords and knives that Adam has gotten over the years, but we've only got to go to one Renaissance Faire, and one Pirate Fest before. It would be awesome to go again some time. We didn't get to meet the Dad, but they seem like a pretty awesome family :-D

They are also very artistic and creative. One year for Halloween, their Dad had his own Minecraft enderman costume with eyes that really lit up!

Afterwards, we went to Peggy's house to celebrate Gabriel's birthday. Peggy is Adam's best friend Buddy's sister, but since we're all so close, we call her our sister as well :-) And Gabriel is Buddy's son. Happy Birthday to both kiddos today! ♥

Distaff Day

Today is "Distaff Day". I think when we get moved, I want this to be the day when I take down the Christmas decorations. This was the day when women resumed their household work after the 12 Days of Christmas.

Typically, back then, it was the day that the women went back to spinning on the wheel, and it was named as such for the distaff, or rock, used in spinning.

Around this time, Men also celebrated "Plough Monday" in which they would get back to work plowing the fields.

Shrimp Night

Tonight, we ate at Ponderosa for dinner. They had boiled shrimp on the buffet! So of course I got stuffed on it. You don't realize how much I love my shrimp  :-D  It's still in the shell, but at least they de-vein it. China Buffet has boiled shrimp on their salad bar, but it's usually all still intact, so I usually avoid it there LOL Sometimes I think of Forrest Gump when I go on about shrimp and all the ways I love to eat it. Boiled shrimp. Fried shrimp. Shrimp cocktail. Shrimp scampi. Walnut shrimp. etc  :-p

No Title :-p

Didn't do much today but clean in the bedroom and get some packing done. Got the hallway about halfway done. We had more boxes than I realized.

1st Grade Blues

I vent to volunteer at school today. I got so mad at the teacher because she made her cry. All she wanted to do was spend recess sitting next to me on the bench instead of playing with her friends, but the teacher made her go play. I think what really hurt her feelings was when another little girl came to sit down next to me, but the teacher didn't make her get up and leave.

I realize Tricity is a sensitive person and that she cries a lot, but then again, she's only 6 years old. And because she's only 6, I can see how she would be upset and not understand how some other girl is allowed to sit with her Mommy, but she's not allowed to. I still don't get why. What was so bad about it? It was just recess.

I don't remember my 1st grade year going very well either, though... And Adam said he had a horrible 1st grade year. Does 1st grade ever go well for anyone??? LOL
